Here, you can expect three info-and-action-packed days of learning about investing from a woman’s perspective, visiting renovation projects, plus a little pampering and culinary exploration along the way.
You’ll not only soak up all the information and relaxation you need to renovate yourself and your investment vision, but you’ll also leave with a customized action plan on how to cash in on all you’ve learned.
And the Pampering!
The one thing we ladies don’t do enough of is taking care of ourselves. I’ve carved out some time for some glamour at a well known spa right on the Magnificent Mile to do what we never do, relax, with optional spa activities.
Three Bedrooms, One and a half baths
While you’re in Chicago, you’ll be my special guest in my own private condo I bought and renovated for the purpose for short-term rentals. The renovation was a complete transformation in this centrally located venue. The stunning living area is huge so everyone will be comfortable as you like during our lounging and learning times.
This 1200 square foot condo consists of 3 bedrooms, one full bath and one half bath in the hustle and bustle of the vibrant city of Chicago. Two bedrooms comes with queen sized beds, and the third bedroom comes with a futon. Each bedroom also has a queen sized air mattress should you need more room to spread out.
There is a queen bed PLUS a queen air mattress in each of the 2 larger bedrooms and I will be in the single bedroom. Be patient as we will have to share the full bath for our showers, but the half bath is beautifully outfitted for further primping and makeup applications. There are other accommodations nearby (but not in a walking distance) that I can recommend from fellow AirBNB hosts should you prefer a single occupancy option.
The Venue – Chicago
Chicago is known not only for their food, but for their architectural marvels, cutting-edge designs and gorgeous views of Lake Michigan and the Chicago river. Theater options abound from Broadway knock-offs to comedy shows, to it’s famous Second City. The cultural aspect include museums like the Field Museum and the Alder Planetarium, and last but not least, the legendary blues scene. The historic Drake Hotel is only one that embraces the history and unique ambience Chicago has to offer.
I’ve invested in Chicago since 2012. Some investments with good results, some were a breeze. I will share all of my experiences with you so it can be applied anywhere you chose to pursue your investments.

Elegant Culinary Offerings
Chicago is famous for its food, not only as a gourmet dining epicenter, but as the home of several local specialities. Between their well-known ethnic influences, pizza and specially styled hot-dogs, there is no reason to ever eat a microwave dinner.
We will experience Barbeque catered from one of the best BBQ Restaurants in the city on the first night. The second will be at my favorite Italian and the third night hasn’t been decided yet, but it’s a guarantee that your tastebuds will delight in the experiences. You will be on your own for a lunch, so choose wisely.

What to Expect
You will leave with a new sense of yourself. Between the badly needed “me-time” I’ve carved out for you, the culinary delights, the learnings and the entertainment, there will be some real heart felt discussions about real estate investing. This isn’t your typical “get rich quick” trip, or one of these seminars where you talk about “crushing it” in Real Estate. But a softer side of understanding the facts, the obstacles and the challenges to supplement your wealth.
You are welcomed with other like-minded ladies that have some experience in real estate investing. We take that nurturing nature of ours and harness it to help each other understand how to deal with some of those difficult issues, or just encourage each other to take that step they never believed they could embrace.
Our Schedule - Arrival Monday
Catered Dinner at Jean’s Condo
A full day of traveling will turn into a pleasant relaxing experience in Jean’s renovated condo where you can relax until dinner is ready. Please consider this your home away from home. If early, take a bath, take a nap, watch some TV, or read a book until we welcome everyone to a delicious catered dinner.
The catered dinner is from the famous Honey1 Barbeque located on the street level of the building. People come from miles around to this little local favorite well known for decades for their mouth watering barbecue.
Wine and water is served for your enjoyment as we mingle and learn from each other’s experiences in real estate investing, define our dreams and goals, identify what slows us down and get to know each other and how to proceed with the rest of the trip.
Tastefully decorated for the AirBNB experience, there are 2 bedrooms with queen sized beds intended for double occupancy. Should you want a single bed, each bedroom comes with a queen sized air mattress so you can stretch out in your own bed.
After a brief continental breakfast, we will load up and meet with one of my favorite investor friendly real estate agents and explore some existing developments, speak to other developers and discuss their design philosophies and reasonings behind their investment decisions. You will learn from those in the depth of their projects.
Most of what we see will be in the City of Chicago, although there are some that may skirt outside the edges in the suburbs. We will see some condos, some single family homes, and maybe talk a little bit about commercial opportunities. Some may be on the market, some may be in process of renovation and some maybe renovated and ready to sell or rent.
Being in a small group, we have the benefits of diverting to the areas we want to learn about the most. Short term rentals? Sure. Renovate to resell? Absolutely. Want to learn about condos and associations, If you like.
Our ability to change direction based on your curiosities are only one of the reasons that makes this trip so special.
I provide the transportation, a boxed lunch with water, along with scheduled pit stops along the way on the trip.
About that Culinary Exploration…
After an exhausting day viewing properties, we will retire to my favorite Italian Restaurant in Chicago, Tarantinos. We will enjoy your favorite Italian meal and discuss the happenings of the day, what we learned and exchange ideas on what we would do with the properties we discovered.
It’s a great time to relax and enjoy the end of the day with like minded ladies.
Tarantino’s is a local neighborhood Italian restaurant that stole my heart on my first visit. I go to that restaurant any chance I get while in Chicago.
I provide the meal, but this time the drinks are available as an option.
The Pampering Day
The one thing we ladies don’t do enough of is taking care of ourselves. I’ve carved out some time for some major relaxation at a well known spa right on the Magnificent Mile to do what we never do for ourselves.
Consider this your time to relax and rejuvenate.
We have exclusive access for the day at the 5 star Peninsula Hotel and Spa which anchors us right in the middle of the most exciting parts of Chicago. Whether you chose to enjoy the exquisite amenities at the hotel, spend the day at the spa, go shopping at the Internationally known Magnificent Mile or peruse the other nearby attractions, consider this high end location your home base for the day.
In the Evening…
We regroup late afternoon after your “me time” and go over what you learned and identify the strategies that best align with your highest talents. Armed with your new discoveries, we begin to work on your action plan you will implement when you get home.
After some time visiting and relaxing, we head out to one of the nicest restaurants in Downtown Chicago to continue enjoying our time together, learning and sharing in the all too magical “masterminding vortex” that results in plans never before imaginable.
Exhausted from a full day of relaxation, entertainment and enlightenment, we head back to Jean’s condo and immediately drop our heads for a well needed night of sleep.
Thursday, our Final Day
Recoup, Recover, Re-energize
A morning of light fare is available as we prepare for our trips back home. We will cover our expectations going into this and what we learned about ourselves, and how we can move forward with our newfound knowledge. This is when we develop an action plan for your real estate business and how you to best forward in your success.
We say our goodbye’s, wish others well and return to our homes with a different mindset that will open your eyes to your total transformation.

About Jean Norton
Jean Norton, a serial entrepreneur and real estate investor, is passionate about helping people succeed in real estate investing. She started blogging about her real estate adventures as a newbie in 2009 and quickly attracted the attention of CNN Money which ran a story on her approach to tax liens. In 2012 she was awarded “Best REI Blog” by REI Club.
Jean began her career in the world of technology as a computer consultant. After getting an executive Master’s of Science in Technology Commercialization from the University of Texas she worked in marketing and software product management roles for startups and other high tech companies. Any cancellations received prior to July 28, 2017 will result in a loss of 50% of the total trip cost.
